Letter from David Herter, Director of Bannock County Weed and Mosquito Department
As the director of the Bannock County Weed and Mosquito Department, I would like to say thank you to the team at Leading Edge. A few years ago, our organization realized we needed to use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, (UAVs), in our day to day operations. Neither I, nor people within from our department were UAV users so we started to look for a partner that could not only supply us with great technology but assist us after the sale. I met Piper Kimball and Bill Reynolds at a Northwest Mosquito and Vector Control meeting. After conversation with Leading Edge and our own research, we decided to buy our first UAV (a DJI Phantom 4) from Leading Edge. Bill and his staff have been amazing to work with, not only for the service they provide on the system, but also through training in learning the ins and outs of our new surveillance UAV.
Jump ahead to 2017 and the new MG-1S RTK from DJI, an application UAV, becomes available in the United States. Bannock County ordered one in November and again Leading Edge supplied service after the sale by sending their pilot to our location to set it up and spend two days with hands on training for us. Bill and his team have also assisted us with all of our FAA compliance issues and securing our Certificate of Authorization so we will be up and running very soon. We feel very confident that implementing the use of our application UAV will be a great success when we are ready to begin spraying in the upcoming season. I do not think this would have been possible without the help of Bill and his amazing team.
Sincerely, David Herter, Bannock County Weed and Mosquito Department, Pocatello, Idaho.
